- [Instructor] Before we talk about domains, we need to talk a bit about workgroups. A workgroup is a logical grouping of Windows-based computers. This can include both Windows 11 computers and Windows server computers. A device can belong to a single workgroup and only a single workgroup. A device cannot belong to a workgroup and also to a domain. workgroups exist on a single network segment. Data can be shared simply, that is on a distributed basis, so typically you might enable a feature called public sharing If you look at the user's folder on our Windows 11 computer, there are folders called public documents, public downloads and so on. You can share those using simple sharing or password protected sharing in your workgroup environment. So you simply need to know the name of the computer and the public folder to be able to gain access to those resources.
