- [Instructor] Windows client operating system has been around for quite some time. Windows NT first shipped back in 1993. It was designed from the ground up as a 32-bit operating system. It was also designed to run on different sorts of hardware and to support applications from different client operating systems. Many years later on, back in about, I suppose, 2013, Windows 8 introduced a touch interface. Now, a number of computers had been able to support a touch interface prior to that, but this was embedded within the core operating system. It heralded in a change in working practices, or at least that was the intent, I suspect. So you could use a tablet or a hybrid-type device, which was essentially a laptop with perhaps a removable keyboard, as you can see with some of the Surface devices from Microsoft, and you could get the best out of that by using an interface designed for touch.
