- [Instructor] Bar charts are one of the most useful chart types we have. A stacked bar chart is a way to show categorical data where we can compare the inner dimensions of that data. So, as an example, let's build a very simple chart. I'm going to look at subcategory broken down by sales. I'm going to change the view type to the entire view to make it a bit easier to see. I want to understand how the regional sales for each of my subcategories contributes to the whole. If I add region onto the column, I see the breakdown. I can see across for each of my subcategories how many sales there were for the central, east, south, and west region. But what I lose is the overall amount of sales for each subcategory. Instead, simply add region onto the color. This then creates the stacked bar chart. Our value of sales is first broken down into each individual subcategory, and then that bar is broken into the components that make up the region. What I can then see is how each of the regions is…
