- Virtualization is important to the security of both our on-premise and cloud servers. Now, virtualization has continued to increase in recent years, helping reduce the need for additional power, space and cooling for our server rooms and reducing the physical architecture involved in supporting our information technology operations. While I have personally heard management and executives say things like, "We don't need to worry about security. We've shifted all those services to the cloud," this is simply not true. The same security issues that we have with a traditional physical server are still going to occur and must be mitigated within the virtual or cloud networks. Now, what is virtualization?
