- [Instructor] You can adjust a few settings on the monitor, but for adjusting computer graphics, you use Windows. Remember that the display adapter is the brains of the PC graphic system. The monitor just dutifully obeys whatever graphics configuration Windows dictates. To start, right click on the desktop and choose Display settings. The Settings app opens with the system category chosen and the display item presented for your graphics adjusting pleasure. Working top down, if the system supports more than a single monitor, you see the settings here. Below the multiple displays items found primarily on laptops is a brightness slider. You use the slider to set the monitor's brightness. Remember, monitor brightness affects battery life on a laptop.
