From the course: Creating a Compelling Brand Narrative
What is success?
What do you really want before you build your brand? You have to ask yourself this question. In my coaching career, I've heard lots of different definitions of success. Some define it by the amount of money you make, others by the lives you impact. For my clients that really struggled with this, I noticed they never identified the specifics of what they wanted. They used general statements like, I want to help people. That's a good place to start. But there are hundreds of ways you can help people in this lesson. I'll show you how to define what success is for you and how to translate that to your brand. First, define if you're on the right path. If you're an accountant, do you see yourself growing in the financial industry? Or maybe you're a beautician. Do you see yourself owning your own salon? If you feel stagnant, then it may be time to change your path. Listen to your inner voice. This is how you focus on your true definition of success. Next, visualize what you want and determine why you want it. Visualization is creating a mental picture of something to help you achieve a goal. It's like using your imagination to think about what something might look, feel, and sounds like. So imagine you're living your dream. Ask yourself questions like, Where do I live? Is it by the ocean? So I can see waves crashing throughout the day? Or is it in a quiet neighborhood with lots of trees and mailboxes at the end of every driveway? What kind of sounds do I hear? Is it wind moving through bunches of leads or music from coffee shops filling the air? This activity gives you clarity. Direction and focus around your definition of success. It also helps begin the process of creating a brand that is authentic to who you are, authentic to what you want to be known for, and really highlights the value you bring this week. Pick a day and time to schedule 30 minutes for visualization. After completing visualization, write down your answers. Lastly, start your day by reading what you wrote to remind yourself of what you want and where you're going. This focuses your attention on living according to your definition of success. It's time for you to live an authentic life and create a genuine brand.
