VPN
- If you're using a public wifi network, connecting to a VPN will help to secure your internet communications. A VPN or virtual private network works by creating a secure virtual tunnel for internet traffic to pass through. Protecting a wifi user's internet activity from hackers who sniff or intercept the information. You might think to yourself, VPN sounds pretty cool. Why wouldn't I use it all the time? Unfortunately, VPN sometimes results in slower internet response times. If you're in an area with a low wifi signal to begin with the VPN might drop from time to time and so will your internet connection. These downsides can be annoying, but in my mind, they're completely worth it. To select the right VPN for your needs, start by asking your company's IT department if there's a VPN available for you to use or if they recommend a particular consumer option.
