Importance of technical skills for GRC professionals
- [Instructor] One common thing you'll hear about GRC is that it's not a technical role, or that the technical barrier to entry is low. That's true. However, this doesn't mean there aren't important technical skills for you to have to be successful. GRC professionals can probably get away and have decent careers without acquiring a bunch of technical skills. Probably. However, the most successful GRC professionals I know combine their governance risk and compliance knowledge with technical knowledge and they are highly valuable in their organizations. When I say technical skills, I'm not saying that GRC professionals should be software developers or security analysts assessing threats every second. What I am saying is that every GRC professional should have basic technical skills to understand the technology they are evaluating.
