- In order to improve diversity representation, there are three levers an organization has, hire, retain, and promote. You want to monitor all three metrics as they will impact representation within your company. If you're hiring more diverse talent than your current footprint, it can help, but if you're losing diverse talent at the same rate as you're hiring them, then you may not see improvement in the representation numbers. From my experience, organizations jump right in to hiring, retaining, or promoting. But the most important thing at the beginning is figuring out which of the three will have the largest impact. So, the first step is to assess how each of the three levers is impacting diversity representation. We have covered this throughout the course, so you are on your way.
