- [Instructor] Let's talk about data storytelling. It's about building a narrative from our data visualizations. As you've seen from the videos in this chapter, we are building dashboards, and reports for people outside of the data team. These folks want to be able to view the graphics, and understand the story that is being told from the data. Good data storytelling helps to break down barriers for people throughout your organization, meaning they can easily read reports, and understand what's being portrayed. Everything they need from the data to the context is included in the report. When we think about a dashboard or a report, we often think of one single view, and often with a dashboard, that's exactly what we need. With data storytelling we are instead going to take our readers on a journey. This could be structured as an article or perhaps a blog post.
