Tell stories with data
- Do you think data storytelling is challenging? Maybe unachievable? Maybe do you think that those are skills that you can develop? Well, I've got news for you. I'm here to help you learn some specific tips on how to incorporate data storytelling into your work, whether those are reports or presentations or dashboards that you are creating. I am Rebecca Pop. My background is in data visualization and data storytelling. Also, very few know, but I actually studied public relations and communications, so I have a mix of data and communication background. Why I'm passionate about data storytelling is because I think there is a huge gap and a huge need to link the two, the data skills and the storytelling skills, because ultimately we want to make an impact. After watching this course, you'll learn how to better understand your audience. You'll learn how to understand the difference between static and dynamic data visualization, how you can adjust the way you present data based on those, and then also how to differentiate between exploratory and explanatory data visualization, and better understand which one needs data storytelling. The purpose of data storytelling is really to use data to change lives potentially, depending on the data that you're presenting, inform business decisions, help your audience maybe learn something, move to the next step. But really the the end goal is to make a link between data, numbers, and your audience, and that link is done through data storytelling. If you're ready to learn more about data storytelling, let's go.
