- [Instructor] It is crazy to think that some of the biggest cyberattacks that have made headlines are not the result of sophisticated attacks, like many of us might think, but instead are because of simple credential compromises. The sad reality is that traditional passwords are highly vulnerable to cyberattacks like brute force and account takeovers. In 2021, 6 billion credentials were stolen. 81% of data breaches were caused by weaker stolen passwords. And 123456, I kid you not, was named the most used password right next to the word password, which was in second place. It is time to conclude that we need to rethink how we handle passwords. Having a password policy of eight characters with uppercase, lowercase, and numbers and symbols, it is no longer secure enough.
