- [Instructor] Let's chat about updates, to keep secure, we got to keep updated. And there's three important types as far as Defender Antivirus is concerned, security intelligence updates, or SIUs. These happen frequently, several times a day in fact. And these are for detecting new and emerging threats. They always come from the same KB number, if you're familiar with Windows Update and you want to get into the details. And the advantage of frequent updates is that the data is smaller, so you generally consume less bandwidth the more frequently you update. Engine and platform updates, these are monthly, so less frequent. Engine updates come from the security intelligence update, but they're more about the detection engine itself rather than actual detections. And then, platform updates, these are more about new features to Defender Antivirus, and they'll also be under one consistent KB number. Where do the updates come from?
