- Being able to gracefully receive feedback is important for your growth. But your ability to effectively process feedback can make a difference in your ability to reach your full potential. So what does processing feedback mean? Processing feedback is the mental act of analyzing the internal narrative attached to the feedback you're given. It's what you say about yourself after the feedback has been delivered. Let's be honest, sometimes we're our worst critics, and feedback on a few typos could turn into "I'm a terrible writer," and someone could decide not to publish their book. A poor grade on an assignment can turn into "I'm not good enough for college," and someone could withdraw from school.
