Once you've identified candidates for migration to microservices, it's important to carefully consider all the benefits and challenges. Microservices architectures tend to scale better both in development and operationally. Large monoliths can have hidden interdependencies that are difficult to find and understand. Microservices architectures maintain very clear boundaries between domains. Microservices architectures can be deployed with higher velocity. DevOps offers methods for deploying large systems with high deployment frequency and high reliability. One of the key concepts of DevOps is small batch sizes. Large software updates with a lot of changes carry higher risk of deployment failure. Microservices applications are better suited to high frequency of small incremental changes.
