Creating a 3D drone image
- [Instructor] Now let's build our 3D model. Notice here in the data view, I flew a circle around the area, this building, and I captured the imagery at about a 45-degree angle. If we click on any of these, we can see what that looks like. I'll go ahead and close this and clear that selection by right clicking and choosing Clear. Now, I could have used flight planning software for this, but in this case I decided to fly it manually to test not only my skills, but also to see what the output would give me. Just like our 2D work, our 3D processing will build the images together to generate a 3D model. We could choose any of the outputs here in the Manage pane, and by default we have 3D Mesh and Point Cloud selected. We're going to go ahead and produce those products in this course. Now, with my lab computers, we typically have four GPUs on them, and so the processing is pretty fast at about 10 minutes, but with slower computers that can't use GPUs, it can take up to 40 minutes or more…
