About the TOGAF exam
- [Instructor] The TOGAF certification deals with two levels. Level one is known as TOGAF 9 Foundations. It focuses on terminology, structure, and basic concepts of the framework, and it's going to be the focus of our course. Level two, which is not in scope for this course, is known as TOGAF 9 Certified. It deals more with the inner workings, structure, and the output of the phases in the framework. You can take the exam for level one, then you can take the exam for level two, or you can actually jump and take the level two exam and get both the Foundations and Certified level at the same time. The level one exam is broken down into 11 topic areas. The first area is ADM Phases. The second is ADM Guidelines and Techniques. This is followed by the Enterprise Continuum and Tools and Architecture Governance. These first four areas is exactly where I want you to focus all of your studying on because it contains the highest weight for the exam. The other areas include Core Concepts, Introduction to the ADM, Views, Viewpoints and Stakeholders, Building Blocks, ADM Deliverables, and finally, Reference Models. In total there's 40 multiple choice questions, and you have one hour to complete them. The exam is closed-book, and the pass bar is 55%. If you're unable to pass on your first attempt you have to wait one month before you can retake the exam. To prepare for your exam I want you to work through this course section by section, complete the quiz questions at the end of each chapter. Flash cards are a fantastic way to memorize and retain content, and my favorite tool for doing this is called Anki. It's available on the web at apps.ankiweb.net. Having some consistent sleep multiple days prior to the exam has shown to really improve the results that you can achieve and make sure that you can access all that hard work that you put into learning this material, and make sure it's ready on exam day. Additional materials can be found on the TOGAF website. There's a Certification portal, and there's access to the entire TOGAF Standard. A lot of the material I'm using from today has come from both the TOGAF Standard materials as well as the TOGAF Standard 9.2 study guide, both of which I recommend.
