Deliverables, artifacts, and building blocks
- [Instructor] When you complete a phase in the Architectural Development Method, or ADM there are a lot of different types of outputs that you create. These outputs are categorized as either deliverables, artifacts, or building blocks. Deliverables represent an overall work product that is agreed to, completed, reviewed, and then signed off on by a stakeholder. Imagine a deliverable as being something you have to produce, you have to finish at the end of the day, something that you promised. Deliverables can be archived, or even transitioned into an Architecture Repository, also known as a library when completed. Examples of deliverables include things like reference models, standards, or snapshots. An artifact is a detailed work product describing an aspect of the architecture.
