- [Instructor] In Excel, you can write a formula in one worksheet that gets data from another worksheet out of the same workbook. And you can even do this by writing formulas that get data from another workbook. I don't exactly recommend that because there can be some real problems associated with it. But in this particular workbook, we've got four different sheets for different states. All of these sheets have the same layout. That's not a prerequisite necessarily for doing this but these have the same layout and on each of these sheets, H9, cell H9 has the totals. And I we'd like to do for starters here and you can imagine doing this with multiple states, of course we have just four but eventually maybe we'll have all of them. So if we want to write a formula that gets data from California, I strongly recommend do not type sheet names. Whenever you're writing linkage formulas, it's just an opportunity for a typing mistake.
