Uploading your resume strategically when applying
- [Instructor] When you apply for a job on LinkedIn, you'll often be asked to upload a resume, especially for easy-apply jobs. Now, this is a key part of your application. Even if your LinkedIn profile is strong, your resume helps recruiters to view your experience in a more traditional format. I'm going to switch to another tab that has Nick's resume on it. Now, this is a resume that he tailored and customized to the specific job that he's applying to. If you can, try to customize your resume for each role. That might mean updating your summary, changing a few keywords, or reordering your bullet points to show the most relevant experience. Now, notice also in the upper left corner, the way that I named this. It's Nick_Kato_Resume. When uploading, choose a PDF and make sure your name is in the file, like this example here of Nick_Kato_Resume. Now, I'm going to go back to the application and click on Upload resume. And from here, select that PDF. You can see I have it there, and then I can go to Next. Now, I'm going to close this out because I don't want to apply for this job. And remember earlier that we talked about the fact that you can upload your resume to your LinkedIn profile, which can be beneficial because then it makes it easier for AI and recruiters to find your account because of those keywords. However, when you're applying for jobs, the best practice is to upload a tailored resume for each job that you apply to. Even a few small changes can help you stand out.
