- Diversity, equity and inclusion or DEI has become a major topic in many organizations over the last few years. Unfortunately, many of these conversations do not include neurodivergent people. You see, many DEI efforts are solely focused on serving one dimension of a person's identity, like race, color, gender, or sexual preference. Let me be clear, organizations must acknowledge and understand the intersectionality of their workforce by recognizing that employees have more than one identity that shapes their experiences and through the intersection of these identities, unique challenges and opportunities arise. With studies estimating that one in five people are neurodivergent and that this population has some of the highest identities of transgender and non-binary people, it is imperative that this identity and everything associated with it be considered when discussing supporting your diverse employees.
