Over my 20-plus-year career, I've been involved at hundreds of website development projects, and I can tell you that the number-one thing that delays a project is content. Creating it, approving it, assuming you'll somehow had time to write and you're suddenly a copywriting expert, these are all things that make the best-planned website projects suddenly fall off a cliff schedule-wise. How can you avoid this? The first thing to do is talk to your developer and designer to determine how to approach content. Ask them how the site will be built. For example, is it on a page-by-page basis or are pages built from several modules of content? If the site is component-based, where pages are built from blocks that could appear on many pages, approach this by writing components on their own and then pulling…
