From the course: Human Resources: Creating an Employee Handbook
Consider your handbook as a culture map
- Every organization needs an employee handbook, and if you've been tasked with drafting or revising one, welcome to the illustrious club of folks given this unenviable job. Handbooks are tough. They're both aspirational, what we want the organization to be and how employees should act, and tactical, this is how you ask for things like leave. Creating a handbook will use all of your writing skills and will require you to summon all of your advocacy skills to do right by employees and the people who manage them. In this course, I'm going to give you some insights on how to create the best handbook for your organization. I'm Kate Bischoff. I took the hard road and became a lawyer, and I get to be your instructor in this course. I read a ton of employee handbooks every year. I've seen some really good ones, and you've guessed it, some really, really bad ones. So let's go.
