MFA is a necessary security step that gives your data and account an additional degree of protection. Multiple levels of verification are needed, which greatly lowers the possibility of illegal access. With Okta and other similar tools, MFA is easy to implement and offer strong protection for both people and businesses. So let's take a look at a real-world example of some scary data breach statistics to see why MFA is critical. Over 80% of breaches in the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report were caused by weak or stolen passwords. This demonstrates the inherent security risk associated with using passwords as the only means of protecting our accounts.
