- [Instructor] If you're new to Okta and Identity Access Management, you may come across some terms that you don't understand at first. As you start to use Okta, this video will explain some of the most popular terms you need to know. To Okta, a user is anyone who works with your company systems, whether they're an employee, a customer, or contractor. Okta gives each user a biography that has information such as their name, email address, and even groups they belong to. This is important because each user's Okta identity controls their access. In Okta, groups are groups of people who need the same kind of access. Different areas like marketing, IT, and sales might each have their own group. Giving apps or permissions to a group instead of individual users makes managing access easier and makes sure that everyone in the group has the right amount of access.
