Kickoff call: Setting a shared vision
The second 20 minutes of your kickoff call is when you shift into project mode, talking about the specifics of what you'll co-create. Some of the project details might be ones you dictate, and others might be ones the SME weighs in on. So the key is a collaborative conversation to agree on outcomes and establish your ground rules. Here's some of the content details you'll want to nail down in this phase. Who's the audience? What do they need? Will the final product be a manual, an e-learning course, something else? What topics will it cover? How long will it be? You can see I pre-filled some of this information in Jeff's Scope of Work doc. And each of these questions is going to take a little bit of conversation to answer. So give yourself space to talk through, say, the pros and cons of the different e-learning tools you could build the training in, or the ways a manual might get put together.
