Execute on workplace belonging recommendations

- Professional coaches build ability for athletes every day in hopes that they can someday win the national championship or even the global Olympics. So how do you build your organization's ability to achieve aspirational DEIB goals? Let's apply the ability phase to our DEIB problem statement of increasing workplace belonging for women of color. In my dissertation research, I determined three recommendations to increase belonging titled PSA. Number one, investing in peer-based relationships. Number two, growing allies and sponsors, and lastly, number three, action-oriented accountability for leaders. Similar to what a coach might do when assessing a new athlete for the first time, my first step is assessing the company's DEIB ability. The plan to increase a sense of belonging involves organizational capability to change and change requires actions from individuals to achieve the desired performance or behavior.
