- When your team begins to assess your organization's programs, you'll need to evaluate the alignment of those programs with your strategic imperatives as you move towards increased sustainability. In this graphic, you'll see the four quadrants: heart, star, stop and money tree. These four are evaluated in the axis of impact and profitability. As I describe each quadrant, think of a program you want to assess. Where would that program live in this tool? The first quadrant is the heart quadrant. Its starting point is keep and contain costs. Can we envision this program achieving the same impact or very close to it with a different cost structure? Is there a different revenue strategy to consider? The second quadrant is the star quadrant. Its starting point is invest and grow. Do we understand the needs and motivations of stakeholders who make the star possible?
