Push synths to the front using this FET-style compressor

- All right, we've reached the FET portion of our program here. FET stands for field effect transistor, and if you're looking for a compression with character, with aggression, with push, and with punch, look no further. You've heard of the famous 1176, so should come as no surprise if you go to VC 76, Vintage Compressor 76. We get an 1176 style compressor. Now these compressors are laid out in a very cool way. We have an input which not only turns up the volume of the audio coming in, but it pushes it up against a fixed threshold compressor. Okay, so think of it as like pushing your audio into the wood chipper. The wood chipper stays in the same place, you're pushing the tree into it. Output gain controls the output gain, does not affect compression. We can inject our dry signal in there. We can work our side chain gain if we want to. We can use the side chain with this one down here which is pretty cool. We set…
