- [Instructor] If you recall the Script Raceway I showed you in a previous segment, you'll be familiar with the Mind Map, Beat Sheet, Outline and Script. But now I want to talk about another screenwriting document that I didn't include, the Treatment. Although it has its uses to you as a writer, the Treatment fundamentally is a sales document. In fact, Treatments are sometimes written after the first draft of the screenplay is finished, to show potential buyers a lot of what the movie is about, without asking them to read 120 pages. They're really busy people. And after all a screenplay is only your life. Even when a Treatment is written before the screenplay, usually after the Outline, it's used in a similar fashion, to show either a potential buyer or someone who's already invested some money, such as a studio executive, where the movie is going without having to wait the months it takes for the writer to complete…
