Ruler practice: Special situations
- [Instructor] Now let's take a look at some special situations. First, using rulers with multiple shapes. Let's grab a box and a cylinder. Orbit, zoom in a little bit and then drop the ruler on the work plane. Make sure both shapes are selected. Control or Command + A to select both shapes. Now, you can move these objects together by adjusting the offset dimensions, the dimensions in green. But be cautious about changing the dimensions of the shapes themselves, because that can stretch or squash the shapes in an unpredictable way. All right, click on the work plane to deselect. There's another special situation I want to talk about. What about rotated objects? Can you rotate the ruler? No, it's always in line with the grid. So even if we go ahead and click and rotate this box, you can see how the ruler measures the overall space that the box takes up instead of its edges. So here's a workaround with the work plane…
