- The app store is not the only way to install new software. You can install an application from an installation disk or from something you downloaded from the web. These two options are nearly the same because of something called a disk image. Now, I'm here on the webpage for Google Chrome, which is a program I can install. And it's pretty standard to see a button like this, that you can click to download an application. And in this case, I need to tell what type of computer I have. So I'll click there, and now it's downloading it. Now, generally, when you download something from the web, it is saved in your Downloads folder. So, let's quit Safari, and I'll go into Finder by clicking the Finder icon on the dock. And then I'll just use the shortcut to go to my Downloads folder.
