When to let it go

- Sometimes it's just not worth it to address the conflict. I'm not telling you that you should avoid the situation, but sometimes you may come to the conclusion that it's okay to let it go at least for now. In fact, doing nothing is often an underrated option for handling conflict. We do it all the time often without realizing it, and for many conflicts it's a perfectly good approach. You might decide not to say anything to your colleague, to let the comment go, or to simply walk away and go on as if the conflict never happened. This is a great option in the following situations. You don't have the time, or energy to invest in preparing for and having a conversation. You suspect the other person is unwilling to have a constructive conversation. You have little or no power, particularly in conflicts with people above you. Think about it, it just might not be worth having the conversation if it's not going to go anywhere. If…
