- [Instructor] The first part of protecting your organization against malware and viruses is to learn how to recognize risky situations. So if you follow these guidelines, it might help. Obtain software only from reputable sources. Typically, that might be the Microsoft Store, the Apple Store, the Google Play Store. Keep operating systems up to date. That will include updates to antivirus patterns and anti-malware. Install and enable anti-malware software, or you can, of course, use the built-in Windows anti-malware software if you prefer. Ensure that the anti-malware definitions are up to date. That may well be the case if you're keeping your operating system up to date at the same time. Be cautious and educate your users to be cautious. Be suspicious and likewise encourage your users to always assume the worst with attachments and with unexpected requests to follow links.
