Describe infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
You know, in Lesson 1, we cover the different cloud models, the public cloud, the private cloud, and the hybrid cloud. Now, we're going to cover the different cloud service types that are available in these clouds, starting with infrastructure as a service or IaaS. Now, in IaaS service, the infrastructure is provided by the cloud provider. Infrastructure refers to things like computers, networking components, hard drives, that kind of thing. In an IaaS service, your costs are typically based on consumption, and this is the service type where you have the greatest responsibility. Now, remember when we covered the shared responsibility model, and I said that how much responsibility you have depends on which service type you use. IaaS has the highest level of responsibility for you, but it also provides you with the greatest level of control. A good example of an IaaS service in Azure is Azure Virtual Machines.
