- [Instructor] Microsoft Entra ID is the gatekeeper to your resources. It sits between users on the outside that want to get in and all of your resources on the inside. Those resources may be in Azure, they may be on an on-premises network, they may be in Microsoft 365. Once a user is in, they have easy access to a lot of the resources that you want to secure. Therefore, you need to ensure that the one tool that your users use in order to get in is as secure as possible, that that tool is not maliciously taken by an entity and then used to gain access to your resources. Therefore, we use identity protection. Identity protection is to protect the very identity that users use to get into your resources. That identity, of course, can be tied to many methods of authentication, many methods of access. Later on in this course, we will talk about multi-factor authentication.
