Course overview
- [Instructor] This course will cover the fundamental concepts of Microsoft Entra ID. The first chapter is the introduction, which you are currently watching. In the next chapter, "Microsoft Entra ID Basics," we will discuss the concept of identity and access, understand what Entra ID exactly is, we'll take a look at its architecture, and see how it differs from Windows Server Active Directory. We will then move on to the chapter, "Core Competence of Entra ID," where we will learn how to set up hybrid identities, manage users, groups, devices, apps, and administrative units in Azure. After that, we'll get to "Standards and Compliance." Here, I'll talk about the industry standards Entra ID supports, and the regulatory compliance offering it adheres to. Finally, we'll talk a little about administering an Entra tenant. Here, I'll give you a trailer of what it's like managing an Entra tenant on a daily basis. We'll also talk about features that can improve the security of our Entra tenant, and potential benefits that organizations can derive from deploying Entra ID. I also have a case study for you showcasing one of my favorite companies and how they use Entra to increase employee efficiency and productivity. We'll wrap up the course in the last chapter, the conclusion, where I'll summarize the key concepts you've learned in the preceding chapters. This is a beginner-friendly course designed for learners who have very little to no experience with Microsoft Entra ID. Hopefully, by the end of this course, you'll have a solid grasp of the key terminology, be able to explain what Entra ID is, how it functions, and perform basic tasks in a lab environment. Although there are no mandatory prerequisites, having a basic understanding of Azure will be helpful. If you are not familiar with Azure, no problem. I have an entire learning path dedicated to Microsoft Azure Fundamentals. It's one of the most popular and top-rated pieces of content on LinkedIn Learning, rated an average of 4.8 out of five, and watched by over 150K learners. So, feel free to start your journey there if that sounds more relevant to you. And for better retention of the concepts taught in this course. I highly recommend taking physical, handwritten notes. I have included a PDF in the exercise files that you can print and use to write notes. I still use this old-school technique myself, and it works a lot better for me than simply watching a course or taking screenshots.
