- [Instructor] In this section, let's talk about some of the challenges we face in network engineering when we try to adapt DevOps mindsets and practices. The goal is not to create shame or blame. Instead, I want to put DevOps into the right context for us. More importantly, what tools and process we can use to solve these challenges. Traditionally, when we're planning and designing a network, we'll use tools such as Visio to diagram our network, perhaps use spreadsheet to keep track of IP address assignments, then use some kind of text file to keep track our standard configuration files. These steps have worked for many years. However, there's several problems with them. The first problem is they require manual updates when changes occur.
