- [Instructor] Let us now talk about LAN troubleshooting, 'cause let's face it, sometimes the network just doesn't work, right? So what do we do? There are various approaches that we can apply. There's the top-down approach and the bottom-up approach, there's the divide and conquer, follow the path, and component swapping. Let's start with the top-down and bottom-up approaches. These two approaches relate to the OSI model. The top-down approach means that we start with the application layer. Check first if the app is working. Like if you are printing, are you printing to the correct printer? Is the printer turned on and connected to the network? Has the ink, is there paper? Do you see any printer errors? If you are browsing the internet, are you going to the right website? Is that the proper browser for you to use? Or could there be an application or software on your end that could be blocking your network connection, like a firewall perhaps? The firewall can also operate at layer…
