- Once you've developed your strategy, forged strong relationships and created the conditions for success for learning in your company, how do you actually know which learning solutions to create? There are lots of courses that can teach you how to complete a needs assessment and design, curate, and deliver learning programs, so I won't touch on those here. As an L&D leader, you'll need to have a clear understanding of these fundamentals and be able to coach and guide your team along the way, but you likely won't need to do any of the needs assessments or design work. Where you will focus as a strategic leader is balancing what's needed, what's possible, and what's most effective. You'll play a key role in ensuring your team prioritizes solutions based on business goals, learner needs, and the resources available such as budget, time, and technology.
