Backstory: How to talk about your past in your pitch

- Now that you've led with your destination, it's time to look backwards and go to your backstory. So what's the difference between a backstory and your background? The biggest difference is that you are the author. You get to pick and choose what to include and what not to include. There's no rule that says you have to tell me about every single thing you've done since you graduated college and there's no rule that says you should tell me about yourself in chronological order starting from the very beginning. Your backstory is something you are going to construct. The way that you should think about your backstory is focusing on relevant experience versus recent experience. Thinking about curating a story that makes sense, helping me understand the transitions or why this piece of your background is important or interesting or compelling.
