- [Emma] Power BI is a little bit too flexible. If we select our stacked chart and click line chart over here, we get a line chart even though we shouldn't. In this video, we will understand when not to use line and area charts and also how to use drill downs. Your users try to make sense of the data through the shapes that you give them on the page. The separate rectangles of our bar chart suggests discreet categories of data, but when we join them together in lines, the continuous nature of the line is misleading. It suggests that the data flow from high to medium to low to none when we know that this isn't true. Let's find suitable data for a line chart here instead. Year looks plausible, but actually, it's an aggregation of data. See how it has the Sigma symbol rather than a calendar? Lines and area charts call out for continuous data, so let's use Date instead. Date also has this little arrow, and if we use it, underneath it, we get Date Hierarchy, under which is Year, Quarter…
