How AI agents will change sales
- Sales is a highly relationship-based business function. Sales teams are most effective when they sell products, but administrative and operational tasks take time away from working with customers. Much like in customer service, AI agents will handle incoming routine inquiries. For example, the prospect provides an AI sales agent with information about the product or service they're looking for. The agent will gather additional information about the customer and the product they're asking about. A customer relationship management system and product documentation are good sources for that. If an organization is selling digital products, the agent will support the pre-sales process. It will create customized product demos and videos based on the customer's input to these questions. What problem is the customer looking to address? What specifications is the customer looking for? Which options and discounts are available? To create a custom demo, the agent might rely on a mix of available videos, AI avatars of presenters, and incorporate the responses that the customer has provided. This helps personalize and accelerate otherwise longer cycles. Agents can monitor the status of sales opportunities in your system. They can follow-up with prospects using their preferred channels. An AI-based sales agent could also create a customized quote and send it to a sales rep for review. Then it sends it to the customer. For products with medium complexity, for example, standard software, the agent can send out the quote by itself without review. Post-sale, the AI agent can identify risks like a customer who's considering leaving. Maybe they haven't used your application or services in a while. The agent could recognize these signs and reach out to the customers to find out more. Although agents are an emerging technology, they promise to increase sales operations and efficiency. They will support the sales teams and prepare tailored product demonstrations, proposals and communication. They will also support operational tasks. This is massively beneficial because the sales teams can focus on addressing the customers' needs. After all, sales is people doing business with people.
