- [Instructor] Besides the technical details we have already seen, it is important to understand why inventory is so hard. Everywhere I've spoken about this topic ranging from graduate school seminars, networking events, venture capital events, conferences, et cetera, I pick up on one thing, companies and leaders wonder we are so successful at disrupting our way to success, but why is inventory so hard? Well, let's see why that is. First, privacy usually almost certainly lags behind growth. Privacy and security specialists are never early hires. If engineers and data scientists are like elephants in a circus, privacy and security specialists tend to have the thankless job of training the elephants with shovels. But more seriously, I'm usually hired at most major companies after the company was hit by a fine or a consent decree.
