- [Instructor] When it comes to data inventory, I'm almost certain that you will get some C-suite pushback or executive pushback. This is especially the case when budgets are tight and executives lack the right context. So how should you respond if and when that happens to you? As cliche as it may be, the old carrot and stick approach should work pretty well here. When it comes to my stick, I use a resource called www.enforcementtracker.com. It's on your screen right now. This website lists fines levied upon companies globally by regulators for inadequate data governance practices. This is the privacy version of the Hall of Shame with company names listed right beside the violation, the fine, and the regulator who levied the fine. Another possible resource could be visuals like this one which shows that even when the number of breaches go down, it is possible for bad actors to steal data and even more data as time goes on.…
