From the course: Project Management: Preventing Scope Creep

Dealing with it

- Scope creep. If you're a project manager, that phrase makes you cringe, because scope creep can derail your project faster than you could say, Houston, we have a problem. So you need to know why scope creep happens and what you can do about it. Scope creep thrives in the gap between what the customer expects and what the project delivers. That word expect is key. Expectations are what customers say they want, but not necessarily what they need. It's our job to manage the project in such a way that we meet their expectations and give them what they need, without the project getting out of scope. My name is Oliver Yarbrough. I'm an author, speaker and trainer in project management and growth strategies to increase value. Join me on LinkedIn Learning as I walk you through best practices to identify and prevent scope creep so it doesn't derail your project.
