- You can't totally avoid scope creep, but you can try. One of the best ways is to make a habit of practicing strong project management. Aggressive stakeholders will try to pressure you, and indecisive customers will try to get you to start working without agreeing to scope boundaries. What's a project manager supposed to do? Stand your ground. Let me explain. Standing your ground doesn't mean you are unbending or unwilling to listen to others. It certainly doesn't mean you won't take changes into consideration. To the contrary, standing your ground means you say what you mean and mean what you say. And you expect the same from others. In other words, you stand on your principles and the value you bring as a professional.
