- Working with the media means being prepared to answer critical questions and available to share important updates. Delivering credible and timely information is essential to your crisis communications program. You want to map out the best ways to engage with the media to assist you in delivering public communication effectively and issuing updates with speed and accuracy to address public concern. When dealing with the media during a crisis, first, I always make sure to establish a hub for information. Journalists, bloggers, and influencers seek information, especially during a crisis. Because all different areas of your company communicate through social media, not just marketing and PR, it's imperative to establish a media headquarters or hub. For example, use an area of your website to disseminate frequent updates, situation reports, and news releases.
