I get asked about body language quite a bit. People find the topic of body language fascinating. I sometimes do consults on nothing but body language. Ironically, if you're new to public speaking, you're probably better off not thinking too hard about your body language. You don't want to become self-conscious. Instead, practice speaking from a place of confidence. When you emotionally connect with the words you're saying, your body naturally knows what to do. Rather than getting into the specifics of every possible posture and pose, let's review five body language basics that can help you develop more professional body language. First, warm up your body before you speak. Go somewhere private and strike a few expansive power poses. Put your hands over your head or puff out your chest with your hands on your hips.
