Enable, empower, and encourage

- Quality management for operational excellence means not only should you have a QMS that's effective today, but it should continue to be effective in the long run. But why and how? Well, first and foremost quality management, when done right, can enable and empower your employees to perform their respective tasks well. And with the right performance management system, it will encourage operational excellence. Let me elaborate on those three keywords: enable, empower, encourage. To enable means that the right processes are established, and more importantly, these processes are capable enough to enable employees to perform well and with ease. When I say capable processes, it means sufficient process capability to meet specifications, but more importantly, it also includes enabling technology, the right equipment, staffing, knowledge, skills, and training so that the process capability is maintained at a high level.
